A transgender senior was voted onto the prom king ballot. His Georgia high school said he could run as queen or not at all.

“I’ve never been shown so much support before,” Dex — whose birth name, or, as the transgender community terms it, his “dead name,” is Phenix — told the Times. Neither Schofield nor Johnson High’s principal, Stan Lewis, returned The Washington Post’s request for comment.
