"And when you find those, you can also remove them, which in turn prevents the cancer from forming," Jung says."Over 50 million eligible Americans do not get recommended screenings for colorectal cancer, partly because current screening methods are inconvenient or unpleasant," Guardant Health CEO, AmirAli Talasaz, wrote in a release about the results of the study.
And while colorectal cancer is still rare in young adults, the rate has been increasing. About 20, 000 people in the U.S. under the age of 50 are diagnosed each year.Guardant Health has already filed for approval with the FDA. The decision is expected to come later this year.
