One of the great things about being in a car with someone is there isn’t a ton of pressure to fill all the silence. And sure: There were a lot of pauses along the way—you see some of them in the film, but certainly not all of them—but that just seemed like part of what driving around was about. We definitely have a similar sense of humor. I’m also from Southern California. We’ve related a lot about our fathers—his whole story with his father and missing his father and missing family members. I’ve had some loss, and I think that’s something we connect on as friends.Yeah. It was at his house in Beverly Hills, and I was terrified. We sat down in his living room and talked for about 15 minutes, and it wasn’t going very well, and then he just bolted up and left.

Heart’s Nancy Wilson Reflects on Power Trip and Finding Empowerment From Her Mother&xA0;Tucked away in the Berkshires, Marie Claire hosted its sixth annual Power Trip event -- a 36-hour networking event that brings together a collective of smart, creative women. And this year&x2019;s event, which took place at the Miraval Berkshires Resort & Spa, featured a surprise performer: Nancy Wilson of the legendary rock group Heart.&xA0;During the conference, Nancy sat down with Marie Clarie editor-in-chief Sally Holmes and discussed how empowered she felt to be there. &x201C;Everybody in this room has kind of been through the mill in a men's only world, learned how to kick its ass and get ahead with it,&x201D; she said. Surrounded by such a group of inspiring women, Wilson revealed how much of a guiding light her mother, who she called a &x201C;steel magnolia,&x201D; was for her: &x201C;She was the nurturing, strong, steel, mother figure.&x201D;Wilson, who wrote and recorded her first-ever debut solo album You and Me during the pandemic, could relate closely to the conference&x2019;s overarching theme &x201C;Finding Forward.&x201D; &x201C;What drives me forward is the creative force of trying to make new art and bring that art to the world,&x201D; she said. &x201C;Because art is something that fixes the world.&x201D;Following her performance at Power Trip, Wilson reflected on her experience in the Berkshires and revealed what she took away from this year's event.How would you describe your experience at the Power Trip event?I was very happy to be there. The event itself is such a great representation of what's right about things in the world right now because women are being seen, and they're becoming more powerful. Usually when you say "power trip," you think "ego trip," but it was anything but.
