A Nebraska man paddled 38 miles down the Missouri River on Saturday in a"boat" made from a hollowed out pumpkin to celebrate his 60th birthday and hopefully set a Guinness World Record.
"They say if you stay in your job long enough you might see just about everything and this morning was one of those days!," a city witness said in the Facebook post. Hansen's wife, family and friends were also there to document the journey, the city's post said, with some of them following him in a proper boat just in case the pumpkin ran into any trouble.
Guinness World Records spokesperson Kylie Galloway told CNN that the organization has received Hansen's application for the title and is awaiting evidence to review.

A's Hold Yankees to 1 Hit, Win 3-2 in 11 on LeMahieu ErrorShea Langeliers scored the winning run on a throwing error by second baseman DJ LeMahieu in the 11th inning, and the Oakland Athletics held the New York Yankees to one hit in a 3-2 victory. With runners on first and second and one out, Chad Pinder hit an apparent double-play grounder to shortstop. The Yankees got the force at second base but LeMahieu’s throw to first was off target, allowing Langeliers to score the run that snapped New York’s five-game winning streak. The Yankees managed just one hit for their fewest in an extra-inning game since at least 1906, according to Sportradar.
