Directed by Kenneth Branagh, who returns to the role of Hercule Poirot for the third time, A Haunting in Venice confirms Rowena Drake’s role in all three murders.
Rowena had nothing to lose, either, seeing as how nobody would buy the house because it was falling apart and supposedly haunted. If Rowena’s plan had been successful, Leslie and Joyce would have died under the guise of the children’s vendetta, and Rowena could have continued to claim her innocence. What Rowena hadn’t counted on, however, was Hercule Poirot attending the séance, which is why she began poisoning his tea to throw him off.
Hercule Poirot’s Ghostly Hallucinations Explained A Haunting in Venice is driven by the supernatural, and heavily hints at spirits haunting Rowena’s house. Poirot doesn’t believe ghosts exist, but he begins hallucinating after Rowena poisons his cup with mad honey. At one point, Poirot spots a little girl hiding, and hears a child’s voice singing — a song no one else can hear.
