A driver struck a pedestrian on the Southeast Side, then fled the scene, police say. The pedestrian was hospitalized in serious condition.
A pedestrian was hospitalized after being struck by a hit-and-run driver on the Southeast Side, police said.
The pedestrian, who was not identified, was hit by a dark gray vehicle while crossing the 1000 block of Amanda Street around 11:30 p.m. Saturday. The driver did not stop to render aid, according to a preliminary San Antonio Police Department report.The person was hospitalized in serious condition, SAPD reported.Failure to stop and render aid is a third-degree felony in Texas if the driver left the scene of an accident that caused serious bodily injury. A third-degree felony is punishable by 2 to 10 years in jail and fines of up to $10,000.
It becomes a second-degree felony, with a sentence of up to 20 years, if the accident caused another person's death.
