We follow Jillian Reilly from waking up to winding down
in 2019 based on her 20 years’ experience in the global aid industry across Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe.
In 1993 Jillian moved to South Africa to work with a human rights organisation during the fall of apartheid and was lucky enough to monitor the historic 1994 elections. She stayed in South Africa for another four years working with a US non-profit organisation to strengthen the capacity of local NGOs. During that time she developed new projects in countries across east and southern Africa, including Mozambique, Botswana, and Ethiopia.
Now with Antacara, Jillian has shifted her focus from organisations and communities to individuals. Her experiences as an aid worker not only expanded her worldview and gave her deep insight into human development; they built out her personal ability to be curious, adaptable, and resilient. Antacara combines Jillian’s passion for human development and exploring new cultures and landscapes, with the lessons learned over a career of social change and personal development.
, in 2012 and her writing has been published in the Washington Post, LA Times and Newsweek. She is currently writing a novel set in Kosovo and New York City that explores themes of liberation between two generations of women.
