Precooking the squash for this dessert seasons and softens it—just be sure to get it out of the oven as soon as the squash is tender.The dark brown sugar gives this cake a little molasses edge, which cuts the sweetness of the berries and the richness of the cream cheese. When Thanksgiving rolls around, we love to make this with cranberries instead of blueberries and raspberries.
