She's building AssistHub, a virtual assistant that reduces the time and stress it takes to access public benefits.

... [+]Farley: The way we expect citizens to access public benefits is often devoid of dignity. Why doesn’t the current system work? For people who need help, the odds are stacked against them the moment they begin their search for resources. It’s shocking - and infuriating - how difficult benefits are to find. Every day, we speak to people who say they’ve been looking for help for weeks or months with no success.

Farley: If you could tell yourself one thing at the start of your AssistHub journey, what would it be?I’ve learned that ideas can never become products unless you launch them. This also means you risk getting it wrong…which by the way, is inevitable. Looking back, I’d tell myself that it’s okay to launch something publicly that you know isn’t perfect. What we have today isn’t shiny; our product still only does a fraction of what it has the potential to.

And I’ll end with this: resist the temptation to step out of the game because there isn’t a clear path forward yet. As a parent of a toddler, this was a giant feat for me to overcome. When I doubted if entrepreneurship was for me, I made a conscious decision tofor me. It’s tempting to see other founders and say “I should be doing this or that,” but I’m embracing that our journey will look different. You might chart your own path, and that’s okay.
