O’Grady’s biggest mainstream success came when he was offered his own daytime chat show on ITV, following the success of his stint filling in for Des O’Connor onwas surprisingly rowdy and off-script for a teatime show. The concept was simple: O’Grady would open with a monologue, flanked by his beloved Shih Tzu, Buster, before welcoming a celebrity guest on for a chat. Children would join O’Grady to honestly review new toys and games, and O’Grady would regularly read out letters from viewers.
