As SAG-AFTRA and the WGA continue to strike for fair compensation, networks consider whether to delay or shelve completed series including Frasier.

Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT The Frasier reboot is on the roster of series that could potentially either be delayed or shelved amid the dual industry strikes. At the time of writing, the Writers Guild of America and the Screen Actors Guild are both striking against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers for fair compensation, streaming residuals, and the regulation of AI use, among other issues.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, networks and streamers are currently sitting on a variety of series that are in the can. They are weighing their options about potentially airing the series during a strike when the stars would not be available to promote them. So far, no decisions have been made, but the options include delaying or shelving the series if there is no end in sight for the strikes.

The Potentially Delayed Series Boast Star-Studded Casts One of the key issues facing the networks and streamers right now is how much publicity for their series is driven by the cast. Streaming services especially tend to use A-list talent as a key draw to help their titles stay competitive in a landscape overwhelmed with new content. Without those actors promoting their work, the shows will lose a vital component of what helped them be deemed worth the risk and get greenlit in the first place.

For instance, Feud: Capote's Women takes the Ryan Murphy anthology approach of collecting a dazzling cast of stars that includes Naomi Watts, Demi Moore, Molly Ringwald, Chloë Sevigny, Calista Flockhart, and Diane Lane. However, the other shows on the roster all feature one or more key stars. This includes Matt Bomer and Jonathan Bailey in Fellow Travelers, Jon Hamm in Fargo, Vince Vaughn in Bad Monkey, Emma Stone in The Curse, and Krysten Ritter in Orphan Black: Echoes.

The Frasier cast, of course, also features returning favorites such as Kelsey Grammer and Bebe Neuwirth. Palm Royale too boasts a huge cast of heavy-hitters, including six-time Emmy winner and comedy icon Carol Burnett as well as Oscar winners Allison Janney and Laura Dern. With all this talent included in the shows' lineups, it makes sense why this would be a decision their respective networks are not taking lightly.
