JUST IN: The death toll has risen to 7 from a shooting rampage near Odessa in Western Texas on Saturday, according to the Odessa mayor.
Seven people were killed and at least 19 others injured when a gunman went on a rampage near Odessa in Western Texas on Saturday before he was shot to death in a gunfight with police, according to authorities.
Police initially said five people were killed, but that number included the shooter. On Sunday, sources told ABC News the number of people allegedly killed by the gunman rose overnight from four to seven. The suspect, described by authorities as a white man in his 30s, was shot and killed by responding officers, police said.The Department of Public Safety officer's injuries were non-life-threatening, Midland Mayor Jerry Morales told CNN.Midland Memorial Hospital has received six patients, three of whom are in critical condition, hospital officials said. The other three patients are in stable condition.
