BREAKING UPDATE: 7 people dead in shooting at a Jehovah’s Witness hall in the German city of Hamburg, police say.
A number of others were injured, some of them seriously, in Thursday’s shooting, police said.
"On March 9, 2023 at around 9:00 p.m. local [3 p.m. ET], a suspect shot at visitors to an event in a church on Deelböge Street," police said in the statement. According to current information,"8 people were fatally injured, apparently including the alleged perpetrator," the statement said. “Terrible news from #Hamburg. Several members of a Jehovah’s Church fell victim to a brutal act of violence last night," Chancellor Olaf Scholz said in a tweet Friday morning.
