While DC Comics' Flashpoint may be the core inspiration, the first trailer for The Flash movie confirms it will have some pretty major differences.
While the first trailer for The Flash confirms that the original DC Comics Flashpoint story will serve as the primary inspiration, several key elements are missing as well as some critical differences. However, the basic framework will still exist with Barry Allen's Flash inadvertently changing his universe's timeline after an attempt to prevent his mother's murder in the past.
Aquaman and Wonder Woman Causing World War 3 Another critical part of Flashpoint was the bitter war between Atlantis and Themyscira. What started as a peaceful alliance with the marriage of Wonder Woman and Aquaman quickly fell apart after Diana's mother was murdered. Blaming Atlantis, Diana decapitated Mera whom Aquaman still cared for.
Cyborg Becoming America's Greatest Hero With No Superman In a similar vein to Aquaman and Wonder Woman not appearing to be featured in The Flash as they do in Flashpoint, Ray Fisher's Cyborg will not become America's greatest hero either. In the Flashpoint timeline, Kal-El never becomes Superman as he does in the primary timeline. Instead, the biggest hero is Victor Stone's Cybrog who answers directly to the President himself.
