Monitors can be used at the earliest and latest stages of the criminal justice system.Usually, when someone with an ankle monitor travels outside of their set limits, the monitor will sound an alarm. The person’s assigned officer or law enforcement agency would then receive notice about the violation.They’re meant for people who are seen as a flight risk.
Dallas County District Attorney John Creuzot said the majority of people comply with electronic monitoring. But, he said, “we have also seen far too many times someone cut off their monitor and proceed to break the law.”“not unusual for offenders with aggravated offenses”“Special conditions of parole, such as the requirement for an electronic monitor, are at the discretion of the parole panel reviewing the case,” Hardy said.
