The baby was in a car when another vehicle pulled up and someone inside fired shots, police said.
The shooting happened around 6 p.m. in the 7700 block of South South Shore Drive, police said.
The baby was in a a tan Chevrolet when another vehicle pulled up and someone inside fired shots, police said. The driver of the car made it to 71st Street between Crandon and Luella avenues about a mile and a half away, and sought help. The baby was rushed to the University of Chicago's Comer Children's Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
We do not know who all was inside the car with the baby at the time of the shooting, but a 41-year-old man was also shot in the incident. He was shot in the eye area and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition.
