He’s not going to win, but based on a change in voting procedure, he’ll be in the conversation.
Coach Kyle Shanahan weighed in on Friday as the 49ers finalized preparations to face the Raiders Sunday in Las Vegas. The voting procedure was changed this year. There are still 50 media members who cast ballots, including eight former players, but instead of a single vote for one player, voters will list a top five in a weighted system.
Bosa may be in the conversation, but it was a conversation he wasn’t interested in discussing Friday when asked if he’d thought about it.Wide receiver Deebo Samuel, lost to an MCL strain on Dec. 11 against Tampa Bay, was ruled out out of Sunday’s game against the Raiders. Samuel was back at practice this week and Shanahan said he wants to see more next week before determining if he will get some time in the regular-seaosn finale in Week 18 against the Arizona Cardinals.
