Chicago Cubs' Christopher Morel celebrates hitting a three-run home run as Texas Rangers catcher Andrew Knizner watches during the first inning of a baseball game, Sunday, March 31, 2024, in Arlington, Texas. fell 9-5 to the Chicago Cubs on Sunday in the third game of a series win for the home team.Rookie Wyatt Langford tripled and made an impressive sliding catch in left field. Third baseman Josh Jung tripled, too, and leadoff hitter Marcus Semien drove in a trio of runs.

Left-hander Jacob Latz replaced Leclerc and allowed back-to-back run scoring singles from Seiya Suzuki and Cody Bellinger to make it 9-5.Rangers starting pitcher Jon Gray pitched just 3 and 2/3 bumpy innings vs. the Cubs. Three consecutive batters reached in the first inning — Suzki singled, Bellinger walked and Christopher Morel homered — to leave Texas in an early 3-0 hole.

Rodriguez has legitimate velocity with a fastball that sat 97.5 mph on Sunday and an effective slider that pairs well with it. His bugaboo in last year’s stint with Texas was command; if he can locate his pitches — as he proved to do this spring — he gives the Rangers another legitimate weapon in the bullpen.
