José Ramírez has been robbed of no less than three home runs in 2024 on defensive gems by opposing outfielders.to hit his 40th home run of the season on Sunday and become the seventh member of Major League Baseball’s 40/40 club. But JJ Bleday, Wilyer Abreu and Jo Adell were among the opponents who did their part to deny Ramírez at different points during Cleveland’s previous 161 games.
Vogt said Ramírez handled the situation with professionalism when he found out Sunday’s game was canceled. Vogt also pointed out several potential home run balls that Ramírez hit during the season that ended up being near misses, including balls that hit off the wall in Colorado and at Progressive Field that resulted in triples.“You think about the four or five balls that Wilyer Abreu robbed from him over the course of that week against Boston, the triple off the top of the wall in Colorado, the triple off the top of the wall the other day,” Vogt said.
