No. 15 Louisville stands second in the ACC, just above a Virginia Tech squad trying to get there. Saturday’s winner between the teams moves another step closer toward a berth in the conference championship. The Cardinals look to follow up their 23-0 shutout of then-No. 20 Duke by improving to 5-0 at home.

Duke quarterback Riley Leonard is hit by Louisville defensive lineman Ashton Gillotte during the first half of an NCAA college football game in Louisville, Ky., Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023. Louisville defensive back Gilbert Frierson points to the crowd following an interception during the second half of an NCAA college football game against Duke in Louisville, Ky., Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023.

After bouncing back from a letdown at Pittsburgh, Louisville doesn’t want to squander a chance to bolster its position in the standings. “Our guys are more than willing to adjust and play hard and realize that every week there’s a lot riding on each and every game.” Louisville was picked to finish eighth and Virginia Tech 11th before the season started. Nonetheless, second-year Hokies coach Brent Pry insists his team isn’t getting ahead of itself.
