on the market. And for the 2023 model year, Volvo has made a number of minor updates to keep its offerings fresh, including a few changes that affect multiple vehicles. All Recharge models—plug-in hybrids with Volvo's T8 drivetrain—receive one-pedal driving and more all-electric range as standard. Every car in the lineup gets updated shift logic, as well.
Also new across 2023 Volvo SUVs, the Momentum, R-Design, and Inscription trims have been discontinued in favor of new equipment levels: Core, Plus, and Ultimate. Exterior design options have been separated into their own packages, which Volvo calls Base, Bright, and Black. Those visual options can be paired with the equipment levels, depending on the model. Additionally, wireless charging is no longer available on any model. Read on to find out what else is new.
The subcompact XC40 receives minor updates for the 2023 model year, including Volvo's new B4 and B5 mild hybrid drivetrains. The former develops 194 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque; the latter produces 247 hp and 258 lb-ft. Front-wheel drive is standard for the XC40 B4, and all-wheel drive is standard for the B5 models. For 2023, thealso receives a new grille with an updated badge, revised LED headlights, updated paint colors, new interior options, and a redesigned overhead console.
