. Much of the issue is due to housing supply — California only permits about 100,000 new housing units per year due to unfair fees and unfair regulations on homebuilders. It’s time to roll back barriers to building new housing and let homebuilders do their jobs so that we have affordable homes.A: For a number of years, our homeless population has been surging, driven by failed policies that let people stay addicted to drugs and suffer with mental illness on their own.
A: I think the biggest mistake of this pandemic was allowing Gov. Gavin Newsom to have nearly unlimited, far-reaching emergency powers that are still in place to this day. California is a large, diverse state. We can, and should, treat it as such. What works for Carlsbad is not always what works for Pacific Beach, yet we saw strict lockdowns and school closures in both communities and around the state at large.
A: As you stated, California already has the strictest guns laws in the nation. What we need is to rewrite laws to harshly prosecute crimes that include weapons and not let felons who have a history of gun crimes out of prison early to commit more violent crime.
