A Hoosier family is about to get a new home, thanks to dozens of volunteers.
MERRILLVILLE, Ind. — Two elderly people were found dead in a northwestern Indiana home from suspected carbon monoxide poisoning after bird nests apparently clogged an air exhaust pipe, authorities said Monday.
Yerga said Monday that a preliminary investigation showed that the home's boiler flue, an exhaust pipe tied to its natural gas-fueled heating system “was clogged with birds nests, resulting in fatal levels of CO inside the home.”
