The Birchwood West Lancs Foyer will take people away from the risk of homelessness

A £2.7m development offering short-stay housing to keep vulnerable people off the streets is set to open in Skelmersdale.

The centre has been part-funded by Home England and will be run by the Birchwood Centre - a charity which is already provides a wide range of hugely valuable support to those in the town. Once open, it will also enable residents to benefit from professional support with health and wellbeing, alongside help to develop skills so they can get back into work and life skills to assist them when moving on to more permanent homes.

Burnley-based Ring Stones Maintenance and Construction was the lead contractor on the project and completed the build ahead of schedule and within budget. The ground floor of the Foyer will also provide a new headquarters for The Birchwood Centre, and will be used to provide support, training, and outreach work for residents as well as the wider community.
