Sautter was about to begin his senior year at Indiana University when he drove to Chicago to join the protests against the Vietnam War."I came over the Skyway I saw line after line of troops, some army troops lined up out there and I said to myself, this is gonna be a wild day," he recalled. "The command is given to clear the streets and that that's when the police just weighed in with billy clubs and tear gas and people are fighting back and people are throwing stuff and it's just total chaos," Sautter said.
