1917's George MacKay and Candyman's Nathan Stewart-Jarrett have been cast in a thrilling drag queen revenge tale called Femme.

George MacKay, who played the everyman hero in the critically acclaimed World War I drama 1917, and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett of Nia DaCosta's Candyman, are set to star in a thrilling drag queen revenge tale titled Femme. MacKay is a British film actor who has been acting on the stage and screen since he was a child. Still, his role as Lance corporal William Schofield in Sam Mendes' Oscar-winning film 1917 brought the actor to an international audience.

We are huge fans of thrillers, but we felt that the predominantly hyper-masculine genre often excludes the queer perspective. By putting a gay protagonist at the heart of a thriller, we aim to invert expectations, and push stories from the margin, and ourselves as queer artists, into the mainstream.

The feature-length version of Femme follows Jules, who after surviving a targeted homophobic attack, finds his life and career all but destroyed. However, a chance encounter at a gay sauna with Preston, one of his attackers who doesn't recognize him in his"boy form," gives Jules the opportunity to insert himself into Preston's life and craft the perfect revenge.
