NEW DETAILS JUST IN: A 16-year-old boy is dead following a targeted shooting Sunday morning in north suburban Highland Park Sunday morning.
Police officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 2300 block of Green Bay Road at 11:30 a.m., according to Chris Covelli, spokesperson for the Lake County Major Crime Task Force.
Investigators said the boy was walking on the sidewalk when he was approached by a male dressed in all black and riding a bicycle. The two had a brief conversation before the suspect pulled out a gun and shot the boy.
