A 15-year-old girl fatally shot late Sunday in Austin was one of three people killed by gunfire across Chicago over the weekend.
Those victims included a 15-year-old girl and a 44-year-old man who were fatally shot in the 5800 block of West Augusta Boulevard on Sunday. Police said they were standing on the sidewalk with several other people at around 11:40 p.m. when a man offender approached on foot and fired into the group, striking the girl in the head and the man in the chest.
Both victims were rushed to Stroger Hospital and later died. Police do not yet have anyone in custody. A 31-year-old man was killed and another person wounded in a shooting in the 3100 block of West Madison Street at around 5:30 p.m. Sunday. The victims were in a parked vehicle when a dark colored SUV drove by and an occupant fired shots. The man was struck in the armpit and later died, while a 44-year-old woman was also struck in the right buttocks. She was hospitalized in good condition.
