RCMP has charged a 14-year-old youth in connection with firearm offences in Moncton, N.B. - ContributedSaltWire's Atlantic regional weather forecast for September 5, 2023 | SaltWireMONCTON, N.B. — A 14-year-old is facing charges after allegedly pointing a gun at a group in Moncton, N.B., on Aug. 28.
Codiac Regional RCMP responded around 8 p.m. to a report that an individual was pointing a firearm at a group of people near the intersection of Seaman Street and Mill Road. When Mounties arrived, the individual reportedly threw the backpack away and fled on foot. Officers contained the area and arrested the youth without incident.RCMP dogs were then dispatched and found the dropped backpack and a firearm.
The 14-year-old was charged on Aug. 30 with pointing a firearm, resisting arrest and possession of a prohibited weapon. The youth has been released pending a future court appearance.
