The richest of the under-40 set on The Forbes400 is Mark Zuckerberg, whose fortune grew by $8.6 billion this year. That’s even after Facebook got hit with a record-setting $5 billion fine from the U.S. Federal Trade Commission
showing that revenue had grown by 28%. The stock price of social media colossus rose 15% over the past year.
New to the 400 list this year is 37-year-old Ernest Garcia III, the cofounder of used-car e-commerce site Carvana. In 2012, he had the idea to sell cars online, but his boss—his father, Ernest II—had his doubts. “I wasn’t sure people would buy a used car online without seeing it,” Ernie II says. The Garcias were already motor moguls, owners of a slew of used-car dealerships from Atlanta to Albuquerque.
