Star Was canon and Legends include a plethora of double-bladed lightsabers, but which characters in both continuities have the best ones?
Since the 1990s, double-bladed lightsabers have been part of the Star Wars franchise, dazzling viewers and readers across various mediums. The double-bladed lightsaber, also known as a saberstaff, has a fascinating in-universe history and is the weapon of choice of several notable Star Wars characters in its two continuities: canon and Legends. Some double-bladed lightsabers have a particularly notable impact on the Star Wars franchise in-universe and pop culture writ large, however.
9 Darth Maul The former Sith Lord Maul wields a new weapon throughout Star Wars Rebels. Like his original weapon, Maul’s new lightsaber is double-bladed, though it is unknown if Maul constructed the weapon. The lightsaber appears to be made from parts of an Inquisitor’s lightsaber, though Maul appears to have, at the very least, modified it, as it is hidden inside a wooden cane, allowing him to fool beings into thinking he is a weak old man.
6 Lola The Star Wars: Visions animated series is part of neither the canon nor Legends continuities, but its episodes are inspired by both timelines to varying degrees. In the second season’s episode “Sith,” a former Sith named Lola combines her original red-bladed weapon with her new yellow-bladed lightsaber, forming a saberstaff with different-colored blades and visually symbolizing her dark side path and brighter future.
