Between Quentin Tarantino and Tim Burton, these filmmakers made films that even they would rather forget, and they ended some historical movie runs.

While some celebrated filmmakers like Martin Scorsese have never had a "rotten" film, there have been many movies that broke a director's hot streak. There are some big-name directors working in Hollywood whose names are just as bankable as any actor, and many of them are still working today. Christopher Nolan just released Oppenheimer, Quentin Tarantino is working on his 10th movie, and Michael Mann's Ferrari biopic is scheduled for release in Winter 2023.

9 Full Frontal - Steven Soderbergh Steven Soderbergh directed three huge movies in rapid succession; Erin Brokovich and Traffic were both released in 2000 and competed for the same awards, and Ocean's Eleven was a huge star-studded event. Although Soderbergh found huge success with Ocean's Eleven, he decided to return to his indie roots. However, only Full Frontal wasn't as well received as his early movies.

6 The Planet of the Apes - Tim Burton Tim Burton's hot streak, which started with his directorial debut Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, was seemingly never going to end, as it lasted for 14 years up to 1999's Sleepy Hollow. That stretch of movies, which includes the Michael Keaton Batman films, Edward Scissorhands, and Beetlejuice, was full of exciting and original ideas with a gothic aesthetic that audiences couldn't get enough of.
