Which horror films will Scary Movie 6 parody?

Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT A reboot of the Scary Movie franchise is in the works and, from It Follows to Barbarian, there are plenty of recent horror films that are ripe for parody. Ever since the first one was released in 2000, the Scary Movie series has been the go-to source for horror satire on the big screen. This franchise has spoofed everything from Saw to The Exorcist to War of the Worlds to I Know What You Did Last Summer.

9 A Quiet Place Sound-sensitive aliens present a ton of joke opportunities John Krasinski’s alien invasion franchise A Quiet Place is one of the most iconic properties in modern horror. It takes place in a post-apocalyptic future in which Earth has been invaded by bloodthirsty aliens who can’t see a thing, but have very sensitive hearing. They’re essentially silent films as the characters have to communicate non-verbally in their attempts to avoid these aliens.

7 X Scary Movie 6 could turn Ti West's sexy slasher into a raunchy comedy Ti West’s ‘70s-set slasher X could easily be turned into a comedy. X deconstructed the themes of sexual liberation and repression often explored by slasher movies in its tale of a sexually frustrated elderly couple going on a killing spree when an adult film crew starts shooting a rural-themed porno on their farm. This story would easily translate to a raunchy R-rated comedy if Scary Movie 6 was a parody of X.

5 It Follows Scary Movie 6 could do something hilarious with It Follows' STD metaphor David Robert Mitchell’s It Follows is a modern horror classic with a wholly unique premise that acts as a powerful visual metaphor for sexually transmitted diseases. It revolves around a parasitic paranormal entity that is passed between hosts through sexual intercourse.
