From Superman showing his true power to Wonder Woman living up to her warrior side, here are 10 DC animated scenes too dark for live-action movies.
DC’s animated movies and TV shows can often be pretty dark, especially compared to the live-action PG-13 films. While DC has struggled to build a shared universe in the style of the MCU, DC’s animated projects have been a highlight of comic book adaptations for decades. From Batman: The Animated Series to the "Tomorrowverse", the many DC animated universes are arguably more comic-accurate than any of the live-action movies.
Superman ambushed the Elite on the moon, leading to one of the scariest displays of how strong Superman really is. From creating a tornado and asphyxiating Hat to focusing his heat vision to lobotomize Manchester Black, it seemed like there was no limitation as to what Superman could do. It is rare for Superman to go all out on an opponent, especially in such a violent way. The only reason why this scene does not rank higher is that it was all part of an act.
Miss Martian, the most powerful telepath in the Young Justice universe, believed that her once-friend Aqualad had killed their friend Artemis. After running into Aqualad for the first time since Artemis’ death, Miss Martian did not hesitate. M’gann got inside Kaldur’s head and destroyed his mind. By the time Miss Martian realized that it was all a fakeout, it was already too late.
5 Superman Lasers Dozens Of Soldiers Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox has some of the darkest DC animated scenes. That includes Superman’s introduction, which was followed by Kal-El lasering dozens of soldiers. Flashpoint's version of Superman was never found by the Kents and was instead turned into a weapon by the government. Kal-El had never seen the actual sun, meaning that he had no idea of powerful he really was.
