TV series love to define good and bad guys throughout their ranks, but when those lines blur it creates the best character arcs on television

Writing characters that fit into a distinct category is hard, but trying to create a complex character that has experiences outside of their trope is even more so.
10 Kara Danvers Supergirl ran on the CW for the last five seasons of the show, but it started on CBS. While this season overall had an odd tone, one episode was effective. After being affected by red kryptonite, sweet Kara Danvers turned evil. Unfortunately, for National City, that means that Supergirl has those same evil tendencies and is proving it all over the place. She attacks the city and has to be stopped by her sister.
7 Emma Swan as Dark Swan Once Upon A Time constantly deals with the idea of good and evil, so it was only a matter of time before the show represented pure good dabbled in being pure evil. Emma Swan took darkness into herself to save the lives of the people she loves, only to put them in danger once she couldn’t separate herself from it. She fought the darkness for a long time, but it was too powerful.
5 Will Byers Stranger Things’ Will Byers is no stranger to trauma, and he certainly is no stranger to being a victim of The Upside Down. In season 2, Will is taken over by The Mind Flayer. He becomes a spy for the monster that causes the death of several people in Hawkins and leads to more possessions in the following season. Will was a great bad guy to ground such a huge evil in a small town like Hawkins.
