1 killed, 1 injured in fiery crash in a west Houston front yard
A woman was killed and a man injured Sunday after their vehicle crashed in the front yard of a west Houston home.
The woman veered off the street about 3 a.m. and crashed into a tree in the yard of a home in the 1500 block of Chimney Rock, according to Houston Police Sgt. David Rose. The impact of the crash split the engine in half, sending the car up in flames, and the woman was killed, likely on impact, Rose said.
Residents came out of their homes and broke out the back window of the car, helping a man in the passenger seat escape, Rose said. He was rushed to a local hospital where his condition was stabilized.
