Shots fired near the Super Bowl parade route in Kansas City Wednesday sent spectators scattering.

The Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers Sunday in the NFL Super Bowl 58 football game. One person was killed and up to 15 were injured in a shooting that happened near the Super Bowl parade route in Kansas City that"Shots fired" were reported near the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade route Wednesday, according to authorities.
"I'm angry at what happened today. The people that came to this celebration should expect a safe environment," said Graves. "Officers ran toward danger to keep everyone safe." Mayor Quinton Lucas was in attendance at the parade with his wife and mother and had to run for cover at Union Station when the shooting occurred.
Following the shooting, authorities asked anyone nearby to leave the area "as quickly and safely as possible" so first responders could get through to treat victims. We saw people running out of Union Station on the east side of the doors pretty frantically and at that moment we were receiving information that we needed to change where we were and to gather and to get to a safe space. There was information that was provided quickly which was nice but it was frantic situation and it is still a little chaotic as people are still finding family members and understand where is the best route," said a woman standing near EMS vehicles at the scene.
